Rolleiflex 2.8C with f/2.8 80mm Schneider Xenotar in Synchro-Compur shutter 1 second to 1/500th plus B and delayed action. The camera is complete with its original Rollei hinged lens cap. The black spots on the edges of the cap are the remnants of what I presume was the original black paint. The camera produces 12 6x6 images on standard 120 film. Serial number 1443xxx.
The lens is clean and, in particular, the front element is spotless and completely without blemish. The taking lens on 2.8 Rolleiflex cameras is a large area of glass and perhaps for that reason, it seems that some owners feel compelled to wipe it with any old scrap of cloth that comes to hand for practically every roll of film. Optical glass is soft and after such treatment more than a few 2.8 models have so many wipe marks and fine scratches on the front element that the definition that they produce is worse than that turned out by a box Brownie! The moral of this story is that if you have a clean lens leave it alone!
All the shutter speeds are working, as is the delayed action mechanism. Focusing is smooth and precise and the automatic film wind works correctly.
The cameras bears all the signs of having been amateur owned as the overall cosmetic condition is very good to excellent. The body covering is clean and the enamel trim is almost without blemish. The central frame of the viewfinder cover has been pushed in a little at one corner but it does not affect the opening of the hood or the operation of the viewfinder. However, it means that the flap which is pushed down to bring the direct vision finder into use needs some help to stay in position. I shall attempt to have it repaired before the end of the auction.
