This is a superb lens for macro photography and general purpose
photography. 105mm is an ideal focal length, better than similar lenses
at 50mm or 60mm, because you can get nice frame-filling photos of small
objects without having to get right on top of them. (Which in some
cases could disturb the subject--an insect, for example.) This is the
Autofocus D version of the lens, not the G version--this means it will
work with the latest digital or film cameras (D3, D40, D50, D60, D70,
D200, D300, D700, F100, F6, etc.) as well as older manual focus cameras
(F3, FM2, etc.). The lens has a selector ring on the barrel which
allows you to select manual or autofocus. There's also a switch to
allow the full range of focus or to limit the focus to normal range or
macro range, which will result in faster focus acquisition. The lens is
used, but has been well cared for and produces super sharp images.
There is a small rub mark (cosmetic) on the lens barrel. The glass is
clean and unscratched. As with any used lens, there could be tiny
particles of dust inside, but none that I can see and certainly none
that would affect image quality. Both front and rear lens caps and a original box are included. Please contact me with any
questions.
PLEASE NOTE: Most Nikon SLR cameras have an autofocus motor in the
camera body. A few models (such as D40 and D40x) have no autofocus
motor in the camera body, and can only autofocus with an AF-S lens. If
your camera does not have autofocus in the camera body, this AF-D lens
WILL still work with your camera, but you will have to focus manually.
This lens will autofocus with MOST Nikon cameras, and will mount on ANY
Nikon SLR built in recent years, and even some much older cameras
dating back to the 1960s. If you are unsure about the compatibility of
this lens with your camera, check the Nikon website.
