This Prism Backdrop is shipped Rolled on a center tube ready for mounting.
Prism offers a separate full size 10'X12' backdrop stand with low-profile end
caps which fit inside Prism backdrop tubes. Packaging and shipping rolled as
opposed to folded significantly reduces the amount of wrinkles in the product
you receive. Additionally, after your initial use and removal of any remaining
wrinkles, rerolling on the provided tube prevents wrinkles and minimizes setup
between uses. This is a professional muslin backdrop made from a heavier 100%
cotton material. The 10X20' size (actually about 8.5X18' after shrinkage) weighs
5.9lbs. Prism premium rolled cotton muslin backdrops are offered in two
standard sizes: 10X20' (actually 8.5X18', 5.9lbs) and 10X12' (actually
8.5X10.8', 3.5lbs). This backdrop is from the Prism Highlight series with a
lighter center portion and darker edges to highlight your subject. Special dyes
are used to obtain well saturated colors which appear vibrant and not washed
out. Additionally, the cotton material is chemically treated resulting in a
heavier, more canvas-like feel. All sides are stitched to avoid unraveling and
a 4" rod pocket is sewn into the top. Each muslin is rolled on a center
cardboard tube with a diameter of 1.5", wrapped in an elongated plastic sleeve
to avoid moisture and stain age and then packed in a long cardboard box for
shipping. Because of the brighter dyes used and chemical treatment, Prism
backdrops are not machine washable. Prism backdrops, especially pattern and
varied color versions, are wrinkled initially as a result of the hand dying,
drying, chemical treatment and packaging process. Even though the rolling
process reduces wrinkles, prior to initial use, these backdrops need to have the
wrinkles removed with the use of a steamer. Prism backdrops, especially pattern
and varied color versions, are hand-made resulting in varied color, pattern, and
chemical texture.

IMPORTANT PRODUCT CONDITION NOTES
For color pattern backdrops, the fabric is twisted and
bunched prior to dying. The dye absorbs differently on the surfaces and
valleys of the fabric resulting in surface effects which appear as wavy
streaks and wrinkles in the backdrop. On some of the backdrops it has the
appearance of mountians and valleys as seen from a plane. This effect gives a
textured appearance to the backdrop. The effect varies from backdrop to
backdrop. The effect is typically most pronounced on the sides and in the
corners of the backdrop.
For the highlight series, an attempt is made to darken the
sides and corners of the backdrop. The center of the backdrop is typically
similar to the non-highlighted series. As such, the center may actually have
a fair amount of black in it. That is, the center of the highlight series is
not necessarily lighter, it is that the sides and corners are darker. If you
require a backdrop with a certain size continuously lighter center area, you
may want to consider backdrops from our scenic line.
The chemical treatment used to enhance the stiffness of the
backdrop is slightly blue in color and some backdrops may have areas with a
blue color from the chemical treatment. If bothersome, spot washing these
areas can remove the excess chemical and blue color.
The backdrops are natural cotton dyed by hand. Some
backdrops may have small imperfections where the dye does not take resulting
in white spots. Often they are not noticable when photographed. If noticable
they can be colored manually to match the rest of the backdrop and hide them.
Prior to initial use, these backdrops are quite wrinkled.
As some of the surface pattern in the backdrop also gives a wrinkled look, the
actual wrinkles may not be noticable when photographed or may add to the
textured look of the backdrop. Bothersome wrinkles can be removed through the
use of a hand steamer.
The backdrops may appear smaller than the stated sizes
above due to the wrinkles in the fabric. Once steamed and flattened, the
backdrop should match the stated dimensions above.
As a hand made product these backdrops vary considerably.
The most noticable variations are the amount of black dye complimenting the
base color and the extent of the wrinkled and streaked texture patterns. If
it is important to you that the item you receive looks identical to the
backdrop pictured, you may want to consider backdrops from our scenic line
which offer much greater consistency.
