Automatic Operation -
Vari Sensor Module
This Vivitar 285HV Electronic Flash has a Vari Sensor
Module that measures the light reflected from the subject, as well as
other reflective surfaces near the subject. This information is
interpreted by sensor’s computer which programs the flash to
automatically provide just the right among of light required for
correct exposure. You don’t have to change the f-stop on your
camera lens when you move closer to a subject or father away as long as
your subject is within the automatic operating range of the flash for
that f-stop.
Calculator Dial
The Calculator Dial, though not electronically connected
to the flash, is a convenient built-in-guide for determining flash
exposures. After familiarizing yourself with the meaning of numbers and
colours on it, you will find the dial a very versatile tool.
Sufficient Light
Indicator
The Sufficient Light Indicator will let you know whether
the light output is sufficient for a proper exposure before you take a
picture. It is particularly useful in bounce lighting which involves
complex exposure calculations.
Zoom and Bounce
The Zoom/Bounce Flash Head allows you to coordinate the
flash field coverage with the field coverage of your camera lens. You
can tilt the flash head at 0°, 45°, 60°,
75° or 90°.
Thyristor Circuit
This energy-saving thyristor circuit of the flash saves
excess energy for proper exposure which enables very fast recycling
time.
