Tips & Techniques for Light Boxes -
Artograph's light boxes are indispensable tools for a whole range of art, craft, and hobby applications. The back-lit surface is conveniently slanted for comfort, and there are handy tool trays/compartments to
keep your pencils, chalk, stylus, and other tools right at your finger tips. Artograph light boxes are the fast and easy way to trace designs, patterns, stencils, photos, and lettering for: Embossing - Scrapbooking - Quilting
- Stenciling - Stained Glass - Needlework & Embroidery - Calligraphy & Lettering - Visualizing & Viewing
Embroidery Appliqué, Quilting & Needlework: To trace patterns directly onto paper and lightweight fabrics, simply lay the design or pattern on the light box screen and place your working surface over the top
of the design or pattern. Switch the light box on and draw the outline in soft pencil or tailor's chalk. Tip: if pattern or design is hard to see, turn room lights off or use tracing paper.
Scrapbooking, Embossing & Cartooning: For cut-outs, filigree and pierced work, cut around the design with a craft knife of scalpel or pick around the outline with a sharp point.
|
Stenciling - Backlight the stencil onto the card for easy positioning. Then use a dry flat bristle brush and pounce
up and down to apply paint. Reapply paint as needed.
|
Embossing - Tape the stencil face down on the screen. Place card or paper face down over the stencil. Use a ball
stylus to trace the outline with firm but not excessive pressure.
|
Calligraphy and Lettering - Trace script styles and illuminated lettering.
|
|
Embroidery Appliqué and Quilting - Trace a pattern directly onto fabric for stitching or cut outs.
|
Scrapbooking - Make cut-outs, borders and mounts to decorate pages and enhance photos and souvenirs in memory albums.
|
Cartooning - Professionals and amateurs speed up production and accuracy with a light box.

Who is Artograph?
Professional artists, illustrators, crafters, hobby painters and designers around the world appreciate the superior performance of Artograph® Art Projectors,
Light Boxes and Spray Systems. Artograph gives you productivity you can count on - year after year. Our products require either little maintenance, or none at all. Our commitment to your creativity never stops. Since the company's conception
in 1947, we have constantly sought enhanced quality through better design. The result - products that are always the fastest, most efficient, most direct responses to your creative needs. See for yourself how Artograph's range of high
quality products can let you do more…creatively and productively!
Artograph® was originally founded in 1947 by John A. Engel, Ed Hirschoff, Seymour Pederson and Les Kouba, as the John A. Engel Company. Our goal, at that time, was to develop and distribute products of a labor-saving
nature. Several products were considered: a clothes line stretcher, duck decoys, a table whisk and an automatic clothes starcher - but none of the products were met with any great success. It was July of 1948, when Les Kouba, also a
noted wildlife artist, presented the idea of the first Artograph projector to the company. Originally called the Kouba Lucy, this new projector was designed to help Les enlarge wildlife photographs onto his canvas for preliminary sketching.
The product received unanimous support of the board and development was underway. The first Art-O-Graph, Model #0, was built by John Engel from assorted automobile parts, a garage door track, plywood and a bellows - all scrounged from
a junk shop. In 1959, the name of the company was changed to Artograph, Inc. The outstanding response to this projector set in motion the direction of Artograph. Since that day, we have continually expanded our product line with one
governing philosophy - to design "Products for the Creative Mind" - yours
